Debbie Cohen-Smith, Ph.D.
I recognize and honor the uniqueness of each person with whom I am privileged to work. I have always connected with people from a humanistic perspective, building on the strength and wisdom people have developed in their lives. I believe the first and most important step is to be present and help people feel heard and understood. I give people the opportunity to tell their story and speak their truth, to explore and figure out what direction they want or need to move forward. I incorporate approaches and coping skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness and relaxation training, and other modalities to help people manage symptoms, reduce suffering, and build better lives. I have a health psychology background and have worked with people with a wide range of medical issues. I also work with people with depression, anxiety disorders, relationship issues, grief and loss, and any other stress-related conditions.
